AKIRA: Live Action?

Heres another one of those projects I would love to see get made the right way! Just like the MADMAX story I posted last week it now seems that Katsuhiro Otomo's anime classic Akira
Is picking up steam. The studios are trying to get this baby rolling before the Writers guild strike. Thats garbage news already you do not rush a film like this to have in the can before the strike. Its gonna be helmed by director Ruairi Robinson (The Silent City)??? Never seen that film so I cant comment on this director but for such a well known cult film like this cant they get a better known name for it ? This is bitter sweet I'm glad this film is back in the works but man it sounds like they are screwing it up already.
